P-Funk Vocalist Mallia Franklin Suffers Stroke
I just learned this from the Soul Patrol Digest: P-Funk singer Mallia Franklin a.k.a. the “Queen Of Funk” (pictured with Dawn Silva) has suffered both a stroke and a heart attack in Chicago. She is still alive but partially paralyzed.
Mallia Franklin’s association with the P-Funk goes way back to the early seventies. She introduced Bootsy Collins to George Clinton when Bootsy and his crew left James Brown’s band The J.B.’s. She was one of the first female vocalists in Parliament and she would front the female P-Funk group Parlet.
Let’s keep Ms. Franklin in our prayers. Way too many people have been passing away seemingly all at once as of late — let’s not add her to the list as well.
