Larry Graham/Graham Central Station Keyboardist Passes Away [Post a Comment]
The Classic Lineup of Larry Graham and Graham Central Station Courtesy of Soul Patrol, I found out that musician Robert “Butch” Sam has passed away. Who is Robert “Butch” Sam, you ask? Keep reading.

I’m sure you have heard of Sly & The Family Stone, right? You know the famed bassist from that band, Larry Graham, and how he went on to front his own band Graham Central Station, right? Well, Robert “Butch” Sam (pictured above, lower left corner) was the keyboardist in the classic original lineup of Graham Central Station in the seventies. If you listen to their 1975 funk classic The Jam, where everybody gives their name, you’ll hear him giving his name and says “My name is Robert Sam and they call me ‘Butch’!”

This year is shaping up to be another sad year in terms of having a lot of people in the entertainment industry pass away. And it is also a year where many of these people passing away are unsung celebrities whose names you will most likely not see reported in mainstream media.

R.I.P. Robert “Butch” Sam.
