Soul Singer J. Blackfoot Passes Away
Stax soul legend J. Blackfoot has passed away from cancer at age 65. J. Blackfoot — né John Colbert — gained fame under his stage name at Stax Records in the sixties following a brush with the law and an encounter with a jailhouse singer who gave him his push into the music world. He later worked with The Soul Children, where he fully established his singing career. His solo breakthrough came in the early eighties with the soulful number Taxi. Another legend has passed on. I don’t know about you but I’m tired of hearing about people dying from cancer. As one whose own mother died of cancer (albeit, in her case, brought on by her smoking habit), it makes me fearful of my own future fate. I hope to live a nice, long life and pass on peacefully in my sleep with no pain. I know, that’s what we all would like, right?
